Ratdog plots a brief Northeast run

With their co-headlining tour with The String Cheese Incident now winding down, guitarist Bob Weir and his Grateful Dead spinoff group Ratdog (tickets music) have lined up a short stint of shows for August.
Ratdog's outing is currently scheduled to visit three cities in the Northeastern US, including two-night stands in Bridgeport, CT, and Baltimore. One additional city may be added to the August slate, according to the band's camp.

Also on Ratdog's itinerary is an Aug. 19 appearance at the 11th annual Gathering of the Vibes music and camping festival in Mariaville, NY.

Weir formed Ratdog in 1995 with bassist Rob Wasserman, who is no longer involved with the group. The band unexpectedly became Weir's primary musical vehicle following the death of Grateful Dead co-founder Jerry Garcia in 1995.

Though Ratdog has always been a strong draw on the concert circuit, the group's only studio album is "Evening Moods," released by Arista Records in 2000.

Joining Weir in Ratdog's current lineup are drummer Jay Layne, keyboardist Jeff Chimenti, guitarist Mark Karan, saxophonist Kenny Brooks and bassist Robin Sylvester.
