Dave Stein Bubhub

From Arcataeye:

The song remains a smoky melange
By Helen Wilson

We’re hoping to have an uplifting experience,” said Dave Stein of the
Dave Stein Bubhub. The band has gone through several changes since their visit to Arcata last November, including switching their name from The Dave Stein Band to the Dave Stein Bubhub.

Ryan Vandenbroeck recently became the band’s keyboard player and “we wanted to note the change,” said Stein. “Ryan adds a whole hell of a lot to the show.”

Stein described how much fun he had during his last visit to Arcata and said, “People appreciate what we’re doing up there.” The band was impressed by the turnout, even though Thanksgiving break had caused many students to leave the area.

The Dave Stein Bubhub plays about 10 percent covers in a given night, many of which come from The Grateful Dead. They describe their style of music as a “smoky melange of funk, rock, soul and jam” and encourage dancing and having a good time. “We’ve come to do it again,” said Stein laughing. Stein is hoping to play for lots of people this Friday and is offering a free four-song sampler CD to the first 100 people to arrive.

The Dave Stein Bubhub plays at Humboldt Brews on Friday, March 24 at 9:30 p.m.
The cost is $5.
