The Mutaytor & Mickey
From AntiMusic.com:
The Mutaytor is Coming
The Mutaytor plans to bring its multi-media ensemble across the country this spring and introduce its critically acclaimed show to audiences coast to coast. The Los Angeles based troupe features over 100 drums onstage and elaborate visual backdrops as well as fire spinners, Burlesque style dancers, anime characters, and hula artists. The group’s unbelievably unique stage show is dazzling audiences across the west coast and beyond. With influences ranging from Blue Man Group & Crystal Method to P-Funk and Cirque Du Soleil, The Mutaytor is poised to introduce its show to the masses.
Throughout the past year, The Mutaytor has garnered an impressive amount of press, accolades, and television placements. They have been featured in the Los Angeles Times and BPM Magazine and received the 2005 LA Music Award for Independent Live Performance. The infectious grooves of “Give A Little Mo” and “On Fire Like This” can be heard in recent TV hits including Fox's “House” and NBC's "Hawaii."
2006 has seen many amazing and unique opportunities come to fruition for The Mutaytor including appearances at corporate and sporting events as well as theatres, gaming conferences, and festivals. On the heels of appearances at the previous two Dem-X Awards, Billboard Magazine has again tapped The Mutaytor to be part of this year’s MECCA conference on April 4 in conjunction with CTIA. MECCA is one of the leading mobile content consortiums in the country and draws from all spectrums of the industry.
The Mutaytor will break new ground with its debut appearances in New York City this April. The three-day run will kick off with an appearance at The Jammy Awards at the famed theatre at Madison Square Garden on April 20. The following day, The Mutaytor will collaborate with Grateful Dead drummer Mickey Hart during the ribbon cutting for the Green Apple Music Festival at the Grand Central Station Terminal. Also in conjunction with the festival, the band will make a special midnight appearance on April 22 in Times Square at BB King’s.
This May, The Mutaytor will return to the E3 Video Game Conference to showcase the debut of NC Soft’s Tabula Rasa game. With audio supervision by Chris Vrenna (Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson, Tweaker) and direction from gaming legend Richard Garriot, this promises to be one the conference’s most anticipated releases.
Other highlighted events this spring and summer include appearances at Paramount Studios, Wakarusa Music Festival, 10K Lakes Music Fest, and Massive Movies and Music in Snowmass, Colorado.
